innovation:GREEN will generate new job and economic opportunities, particularly with reference to workers and communities most affected by transition from peat related activities in the Midlands of Ireland.

Social Cohesion and Resilience

innovation:GREEN will meet demographic and social challenges in affected peat bog communities such as depopulation / ageing, creating opportunities for younger persons and younger families whilst preserving our cultural, industrial heritage in the Midlands Region.

Decarbonisation

innovation:GREEN will facilitate the irish economy to move away from peat and carbon intensive activities, towards more sustainable economic activities.

Transformation of Energy Systems

innovation:GREEN will facilitate an increase in the deployment of renewable / alternative energy technologies whilst providing a secure and affordable energy supply locally and nationally in line with EU targets.

Improved Environmental Conditions

innovation:GREEN will induce improvements to air quality, remediation of damaged and contaminated land and water whilst promoting biodiversity.
